Yes, the status of my issue has changed. The status has changed from acknowledged to closed.

  • On Edublog #1 you were asked to predict whether or not SeeClickFix would fix the problem you reported.  Did you find that your prediction came true?  Explain your answer.

No, my prediction did not come true because I predicted that SeeClickFix would not fix the problem i reported and they did.

  • Are you satisfied with the result of the issue you reported?  Explain why, or why not.

Yes, I am satisfied with the result of the issue I reported because they fixed it right away, and it did not take SeeClickFix a long time to do something about my problem.

  • Do you think that SeeClickFix is a useful tool for helping people fix problems in their communities?  Explain your answer.

Yes, I feel like SeeClickFix is very helpful because they actually listen to and take initiative on what the repoters have to say, then they do something about it.

  • If you could change or improve SeeClickFix, what would you do?  Explain your answer.

If I could change one thing about SeeClickFix I wouldn’t. I’ve only had one encounter with the website and it was successful. Everthing was done pretty quickly and they kept the reported updated with their issue, it was nice.

  • Which class project do you think was best able to help the people who resisted an oppression gain agency:  SeeClickFix or the May Day March?  Explain your answer.

I feel like the SeeClickFix project was best to help the people who resisted an oppression gain back agency because  with the other projects no one took action but the Fremont High School students, but in this case the city of Oakland actually stepped in to fix what we demanded be fixed.

  • Do the results of the SeeClickFix and May Day projects imply that one form of resistance is better than another?  Explain your answer.

Yes, it shows that certain forms of resistance actually cause change, like the SeeClickFix project, and it shows that some only give you internal agency, like the May Day March.

  • What did you learn about the status of the issue you reported to SeeClickFix?

I learned that the status of the issue i reported has changed from open to acknowledged.

  • Describe the response you got about the issue you reported.  What was the message you received?  Who sent you that message?

The response I got was from The people who work for seeclickfix they said  the issue that I reported has been acknowledged.

  • Describe how the 9th grade students are tracking the progress of the issue we reported using stickies and posters.  What do each posters mean?

We are tracking our progress by moving it to a different poster when something ahs changed about it. The open poster means youe uploaded an issue to the website, the acknowledged poster means someone has seen you issue and or know its there, and the closed poster means they wont do anything to fix your problem or it has already been fixed.

  • Did you change the status of the issue you reported on a poster?  Explain why, or why not.

Yes, my status went from open to acknowledged , this is because someone whos job it is to fix my issue has seen it.

  • Did any patterns emerge on the poster about which issues are resolved, and which are not?  Explain your answer.

A pettern I noticed was that the posters are shifting . When I say shifting I mean what once was at the beginning is in the middle now and what once was in the middle is now at the end.

  • Do you think 9th grade students are gaining agency based on their efforts on this project?  Explain your answer.

I think the students are sort of gaining agency because its not doing anything for us personally, however we still are demanding our city be fixed and it sort of is coming out that they see our issues we reported so that means we are being heard n w way

A social movement is when groups of people work together to resist an oppression or make some kind of change.

May Day is the day where people fight against things they dont like and stand up for what they believe in through a protest.

Edublog Assignment #3

screenshot-2016-11-02-at-12-40-01-pm

I live in Oakland, California. I grew up in a neighborhood in sacramento, it was very peaceful and safe. I would describe myself as a very social and outgoing person that LOVES to laugh and meet new people. I would describe myself as a very loving, caring, and annoying daughter/ sibling/ friend. Some aspects of my identity are that I am a female, I am hetrosexual, I was born in Richmond California,  and I am  African American.

First of all I should mention that whole heartedly support “Black Power and “Black Lives Matter” protests. With that being said a lot of my picture chosen for my dominant narrative have to do with my race and/or my nationality. For example, on the outside of my shadowbox project I put a quote from Donald Trump saying “ I’ve got black accountants at Trump Castle and at Trump Plaza. Black guys counting my money! I hate it. The only kind of people I want counting my money are short guys that wear yarmulkes everyday.” Trump can lead one to infer that black are no good and can’t be trusted with other people’s money. This is an excellent example of how stereotypes are started and lots of prejudice remarks are made about my race (africans americans).

For the counter narratives on the outside of my box, i put picture that stand up for mostly my race. One picture was of a young black man graduating from college. I put this picture up there to show that ALL blacks aren’t just trying to steal or rob someone and that some of us actually have goals in life and that we CAN accomplish things. These images make me feel proud to know that there is still hope in some african americans and that there are still some of us out there that do positive things with their life.

On the inside of my box I put many things that represent me. For example, the is a picture of a microphone that represents song because I love to sing. Another picture I put is a black lives matter poster because i love those type of protests. Those are some things that represent me.

This Auto-Ethnography Shadowbox project is all about identity and who you really are. On the outside of the box we were supposed to put how the world stereotypes us and shapes us to make others think a certain way about a specific race or kind. On the inside of the box we are to put as many things that represent us as we could so that if a stranger was to take a look at it, they’d have an idea of they type of person you are.Doing this project I learned that nobody has a say so over who you are and who you are going to be, it’s up to you to live up to who and what you want to be.

Edublog Assignment #2

In your own words describe what you are supposed to do to complete the 2016 Identity Project.  What will you do to make your shadowbox special?

In order to complete the 2016 Identity Project, you have to decorate your box with as many things that represent you and you only. To make my box special i want to make it as neat, pretty, and as creative as I can get. I’ll make sure to put as many things that are more self explanatory so that others can get an idea of who I am and what type of things i like easily and i don’t have to explain everything on my box.
